Public Art

In 2001 I was fortunate to be selected as Lead Artist on the Manly Career Academy High School Mosaic Project through Chicago Public Art Group, Chicago, IL.

Assisted by Caswell James and advised by veteran muralist Nina Smoot-Cain, I worked with a team of nine community youths to design and produce three mosaic panels totaling 66 square feet. It was a fantastic experience. Leading the youths to learn not just mosaic skills but how to work together, solve problems and complete a project on time and on budget was incredibly rewarding.

I’m hoping to make public art a large part of my practice in Lisbon, Portugal.

Acrobat Fence for Discovery Playhouse, 2011

Discovery Playhouse commissioned this fence for their Children’s Museum in Cape Girardeau, MO. The faces in the fence are glass mosaic, which were complete as a project with a local arts group.
