“Black is not sad. Bright colours are what depress me. They’re so… empty. Black is poetic. How do you imagine a poet? In a bright yellow jacket? Probably not.” Ann Demeulemeester defended black in the same 2010 Interview as the poetic color rather than the mournful one — bright shades were the empty, depressing ones to her, and nobody, she teased, pictures a poet in a yellow jacket. Her whole wardrobe was an argument for depth over cheer. There is a seriousness only the dark register can hold, and she declined to apologize for preferring it.
**AS Colour 5082 “Faded Bone” — Oversized Tee (Cream finish).** 100% carded cotton, heavyweight 240 gsm, garment-dyed — each tee fades a little differently, so no two are identical. Oversized, boxy relaxed fit, dropped shoulders, wide twin-stitched ribbed neck, side-seamed, pre-shrunk (size down for a less roomy look). Care: machine wash cold inside-out with like colors, do NOT bleach, do NOT tumble dry (line dry in the shade to protect the garment dye), cool iron inside-out (never iron the print).
