I’m so pleased to have my 2004 mosaic, La Siren II, featured in this beautiful book from the American Museum of Natural History! The museum also commissioned me to build a recreation of La Siren to accompany the traveling exhibit now on tour.

This is a book I would buy and enjoy regardless of whether I were included. The book is lavishly illustrated with paintings, drawings, etchings, sculptures, puppets and more gathered from cultures around the world… and also with fossils and photos of the real animals that inspired these legends. It’s a treasure trove of inspiration.

Mythic creatures: and the impossibly real animals who inspired them is adapted from the American Museum of Natural History exhibition Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids which has become one of the museum’s most popular traveling exhibits.
