The central figures in Carnaval are Butoh dancers, while behind them mask makers in Rio de Janeiro show their wares. In the far background, a steel mill. The petrified hearts encased in steel mesh are stones found in a highway median in Pittsburgh. The wooden panel was a reclaimed cabinet door.
