25 May Bear Mosaic Day 9 + 10

The bear mosaic is all done except for grouting. I’ll let the glue set for a few days before I grout and then I’ll get a couple pics of the bear in it’s new setting. I’m told it will be on display at Bay Harbor in Petoskey for the summer… I couldn’t have asked for a better location up here.

It turned out to be pretty tricky getting the tile onto the bear’s belly… I ended up leaning him against the welding table to make him more accessible, but when it came down to the last few areas, especially his inner legs and feet, all I could do was lay on my back and work upside down.

Some shots of the finished mosaic out in the yard. Oddly enough, I had more people stopping by to ask about the bear before it was mosaiced than I have since. The shot of the bear’s butt is by special request.
